“What is happening in Palestine will not be confined to Palestine; it will spread throughout the entire region,” Sheikh Qassem said on Tuesday.
He said the Lebanese resistance movement is not seeking to expand the war from Lebanon, but warned that if Israel takes steps to escalate the war, “our response will be definite, and to whatever extent necessary.”
“When we support Gaza, we are assisting our homeland and future generations against this expansionist and aggressive entity (the Zionist regime),” Sheikh Qassem said.
Israeli has escalated tensions with Hezbollah following a series of attacks in Lebanon to assassinate senior resistance commanders, including Hamas deputy chief Saleh al-Arouri and Hezbollah commander Wissam al-Tawil.
Hezbollah targeted a vital Israeli air control base with a barrage of 62 rockets last week as a response to the assassination of al-Arouri in Beirut.
The resistance movement has vowed to carry out more strikes against Israeli military positions.
